After 5 years, we had to move our little brewery from our original location on Orcutt Road.



The good news is we finally moved into our amazing new spot (just around the corner from our beloved Orcutt home) that will allow us to have of course beer as well as food, wine, cider, an outdoor patio, and more than enough indoor space to host our live music and community events.

We are a small craft brewery & bakery located in beautiful San Luis Obispo. Our goal is to create a unique, feel-good experience where customers feel relaxed and part of the family. Bang the Drum now serves food, wine and coffee! We have everything from a simple Blonde Ale to a variety of innovative takes on classics such as our Queen Mate IPA. We offer a cast of reliable flagships along side an ever changing lineup of fresh brews, we work to provide beer and experiences that will keep you and your tastebuds satisfied.

MOre than one way to celebrate the day

We offer a plethora of entertainment, including live music, salsa dancing, open mic and our notorious brain stimulating trivia nights just to name a few. Come relax in the sunshine on our patio and bring your friends, or make some new ones (perhaps giant Jenga to break the ice?) Everyone is welcome, we are pet and family friendly! So come on in – our awesome staff is ready to pour you a cold one.

After 3 months of dark and rainy days without trivia, we are FINALLY back!! Reservations for the next two weeks are already sold out; HOWEVER, we have many tables available, first come first serve. We recommend arriving at least 30 minutes early this week if you don’t have a reservation. Reservation UPDATE: starting in May we are switching our reservation platform. May Trivia Wednesdays are already LIVE and available through the link in our bio and our website. BE BACK SOON! We just got word that TODAY WILL OFFICIALLY BE OUR LAST DAY OPEN FOR ~2 MONTHS. We will be closed for construction in our building starting tomorrow, Saturday, January 14th. Currently, we expect to reopen in March...with a bang. Keep your eye out on social media for regular updates and more details. Because it is our last day open until the Spring, it’s a rainy day AND it’s Friday the 13th, we got Larry to come out early and send us off with a KARAOKE NIGHT (7-10 PMish). Hello lovely humans! TRIVIA IS most definitely still ON tonight, but we will be only seating inside. While we are bringing out (and in) every table and chair we can find, we still highly recommend coming in early tonight if you do not have a reservation. We will have the mooshroom pie, lemon cheesecake, coffee brownies (with whipped white chocolate ganache), and Larry’s face all waiting for you tonight. Now go study up on current events! We are so excited about our NEW West Coast IPA! The only problem is WE DON’T HAVE A NAME for our new brew! We love clever, playful and (sometimes) slightly inappropriate names that make you chuckle when you go to order the beer. Our West Coast IPA is 6.8% ABV & dry hopped with Citra, Idaho 7 and a grapefruit-y hop called Talus. What do you think we should call it?? If we use your name we will treat you to a mini savory pie flight and pairing and say nice things to your face.

We’re in the last week of Spring and that means that this is your last chance to get a #ShepherdsPie before we roll out our Summer #Ratatouille Pie (which can be made vegan upon request)! We are swapping out/adding a few things to our menu this summer. Keep and eye out for an #IceCreamTaco we are working on which will combine Flaky Bois, vanilla bean ice cream and some house made caramel drizzle. #summertime #bangthedrumbrewery #brewerybakery #sanluisobispo
